Hangover Helper Gift Basket
Not that we're advocating overindulgence, but special occasions (such as birthdays) and holidays (such as St. Patrick's Day), can sometimes lead to imbibing a few too many potent potables. To help relieve the symptoms of the ensuing hangover, our Hangover Helper Gift Basket is filled with healthy foods and drinks to help the body rid itself of toxins and to help replenish vital nutrients lost from over-consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Eating bananas and other potassium-rich foods the morning after a night of heavy drinking provides lost electrolytes and also specifically replenishes the potassium lost to alcohol's diuretic effect.
Replenishing the body's water supply after a night of drinking combats dehydration, and it also helps dilute the leftover byproducts in the stomach. The water we include also contains peppermint to help ease the stomach as well.
The fruit sugar in fruit juice helps to naturally increase the body's energy and it also increases the rate at which the body gets rid of toxins such as those left over from alcohol metabolism. Fruit juice is also a good idea the morning after because it is high in vitamins and nutrients that were depleted the night before because of alcohol's diuretic effect.
Honey has the highest concentration of fructose (a natural sugar) and can help the body burn off alcohol faster. Other good sources of fructose are apples, cherries and grapes.
Finally, loading up on foods rich in vitamin C can help the body recover more quickly.
